Kellie Tennant (left) an instructor in the Aboriginal Child, Family and Community Studies program, is one of a new cohort of Aboriginal child welfare mediators in B.C. The team she was on was one of the finalists for the Premier’s Awards, which honour employees of the provincial government who have contributed to the BC Public Service through inventive and progressive ideas and strong teamwork.
Kellie is from the Cree Nation of Peguis, Manitoba, and has been a visitor in the Coast Salish territory for the past 17 years. She has been working with Aboriginal children, youth and families for over 10 years, specializing in working with urban Aboriginal people.
