Eschewing the car, public transit and even the trusty two-wheeler to get to work, Peter Koci, a Sport Science instructor, whizzes in in a three-wheel bike or reverse trike, better known as a velomobile.
The trike has two wheels up front and one in the back. The fibreglass body was made in Maple Ridge. Peter custom-made his trike to fit the shell from spare bike parts he had. He's also got an electric motor to assist him when going uphill.
"The big advantage with a velo is that it is much more aerodynamic, so it goes much faster on the flats and downhill," Peter says. "I have a roof for rain days, so it keeps you dry. Unfortunately, the trike weighs in at about 85 pounds, so going uphill is difficult - hence the electric motor assist."
